Choosing a non-traditional path, I decided to forgo attending a large university for a traditional degree. Instead, I focused on scaling my business while pursuing my education at night through a local community college. This dual commitment paid off significantly. Over the next four years, I expanded my business from 100 to 553 lawns a week, leading a dedicated team of six crews and 20 employees, all servicing four ZIP codes. This period was instrumental in shaping my marketing acumen, as I learned firsthand the critical importance of branding and strategic marketing. I often share the story of being “a marketer who mowed lawns,” highlighting how my hands-on experience in the field provided invaluable insights into effective business growth.
In 2019, I successfully sold my landscaping business to my biggest competitor, marking a significant milestone in my entrepreneurial journey. This transition allowed me to acquire an interest in Online Edge, a marketing agency focused on servicing local businesses in the greater Dallas metroplex. During my time with Online Edge, I honed my digital marketing and client management skills, further solidifying my industry expertise.
However, my true passion remained rooted in the green industry. Recognizing the unique challenges lawn and landscaping businesses face, I founded LandscapeSEO in January 2022. LandscapeSEO provides transparent and effective digital marketing solutions tailored specifically for the green sector. Our mission is to deliver superior results through innovative strategies that drive growth and enhance brand presence.
Beyond my ventures in business, I have also ventured into publishing and media. I authored the book The Green Dream: How to Grow Your Lawn & Landscape Business, which offers actionable insights and strategies for aspiring entrepreneurs in the industry. Additionally, I host The Green Dream Show podcast on Turf Up Radio, where I engage with industry leaders and share valuable knowledge with my audience.
My commitment to the industry has also led me to become a sought-after speaker, invited to share my experiences and strategies at various events and masterminds. These speaking engagements have allowed me to connect with like-minded professionals and inspire the next generation of green industry entrepreneurs.
